Por tercera vez y de forma bienal, se han celebrado las jornadas de la Red Olfativa Española (ROE), durante el pasado mes de mayo de 2010 en el Mirador de la Franca Colombres (Asturias). De nuevo, la reunión ha sido el punto de encuentro de profesionales e investigadores de distintos ámbitos y universidades; un evento multidisciplinario en el que han participado físicos, biólogos, neurocientíficos, médicos de familia, otorrinolaringólogos y, este año, además, caracterizado por su internacionalidad, con la asistencia de personalidades como Charles Greer, de la Yale University School of Medicine (Estados Unidos), Iván Rodriguez, de la Universidad de Ginebra (Suiza) y Francisco Fernández de Miguel, de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM, México).

Por otro lado, han sido destacables también la juventud y el entusiasmo, además del alto nivel científico de los ponentes. La mayoría no llegaba a la treintena; unos mostraron sus trabajos de doctorado, otros aprovechando que disfrutaban de una beca vinieron desde otros continentes para compartir sus conocimientos; muchos llevaban varios años de investigación en el Instituto Cajal de Madrid, y mostraban tan sólo una parte de lo que iba a seguir siendo su trabajo de investigación.
