Research Lines
In the laboratory, we study the olfactory and vomeronasal systems from three different perspectives
• Connective organization of these systems.
• Study of the neurogenesis in the adult vomeronasal and accessory bulb epithelium.
• Neuroanatomical changes in the human and transgenic mouse olfactory system in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
Experimental techniques
• Analysis of the neuronal connections through iontophoretic injection of tracers under sterotaxic control.
• Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, even in human brain tissue.
• Detection of neurogenesis (BrdU) and apoptosis (TUNEL, Caspase-3).
• Genotyping by quantitative PCR of transgenic mouse models of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. |
